Block watch trainings

The Neighborhood Services Division offers a comprehensive two-hour training on crime watch. This training covers the organization and infrastructure of both block and neighborhood crime watch groups, and can be supplemented or followed up with additional trainings in specific content areas.

Groups that send three or more people to this training (or have attended equivalent trainings provided by the Neighborhood Services Division, their local police, or another agency) and register with the Neighborhood Services Division, will be qualified to receive free neighborhood watch signs for their area. These signs have the familiar "Boris the Burglar" logo on them and will be hung by the City at entrances to the neighborhood or block.

All crime watch training sessions are free of charge, but residents of Kansas City, Mo. are given precedence if a particular training fills up. If there is not a training scheduled for your area or if you have questions, please contact the Neighborhood Services Division at (816) 513-3200 or by e-mail at solutions_ncsd@kcmo.org.
