In many areas, there are block clubs and crime watch groups. Block clubs often form to focus on issues such as cleanups, home repair and community building. Crime watch groups start as ways for residents to address safety issues in their neighborhood, and then maintain that sense of community through social networking. In some instances, these groups grow into what later becomes a neighborhood association.
You can create a mailing list of neighborhood groups and their leaders. You also may call the Neighborhood Services Division at 816-513-3200 or send an e-mail message to tiffany.drummer@kcmo.org for assistance with customized lists.
