The Environmental Public Health program is responsible for investigating all truck wrecks involving food that originate or end in Kansas City, Mo. The program also responds to all fire investigations and natural disasters that involve establishments that sell food. These inspectors respond to these calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
With all truck wrecks involving food that was to be sold, a food inspector determines if the food must be discarded or is able to be salvaged. If it is determined that the food must be discarded, the program ensures proper and safe disposal, as well as clean-up, of all food products.
