
The Food Protection Program is responsible for permitting and inspecting all food establishments in Kansas City, Mo. We also respond to complaints about food establishments. Through the inspection of all food establishments, the Health Department works to ensure that food served to the public is of the highest standard, free of food-borne illness and safe to eat.
There are over 3,200 food establishments in Kansas City, Mo. Each of these establishments is required to have the majority staff trained in food safety by the Health Department. Training courses are offered several times a month at the Health Department. For more information, call 816-513-6015.
The Food Protection Program is also responsible for the investigation of any and all truck wrecks that occur in Kansas City, Mo., for proper disposal of damaged or contaminated food products. The Program responds 24 hours a day, seven days a week to all fire investigations and natural disasters that involve any establishment that sells food.
