The Central Fleet Division (CFD) was formed in 2005 by consolidating the fleet management functions and assets of all of the departments of the City with the exception of the Aviation Department and Police Department. These were excluded due to geographical, regulatory and political considerations.

CFD exists to provide professional, cost efficient, centralized fleet management and maintenance for fleet assets. The division manages the acquisition, maintenance, repair, fueling, and disposal of a diverse fleet of about 3,600 on-road and off-road fleet units using industry ‘best practices’.

CFD operates as an internal service fund with the goals of minimizing costs, maximizing return on investment, optimizing operational efficiencies and reducing the fleet’s environmental impact.
