The Citywide Planning Division staff collects data and produces demographic reports. The primary focus is to tailor U.S. Census data and Kansas City, Mo. building permit data to the informational needs and geographical areas of interest for each client.
Population tracking reports
These reports include past census counts and projections for Kansas City, Mo. since the last census count in 2010.
Census profiles
These 16-page reports can be produced for any combination of census tracts. One option, if desired, is to include all census tracts whose center points lie within a given distance of a given point. Most information is from the 1980, 1990, and 2000 censuses. Comparative data from previous population counts and forecast data for future years are also included. An example is presented here of census data for the city of Kansas City, Mo.
Metropolitan Kansas City Census Atlas
A collection of 49 maps illustrating population, housing, economic, travel, and employment characteristics within the City of Kansas City, Mo. and the interrelationship between it and six surrounding counties.
Building permit reports
These quarterly reports present data on both residential and non-residential new construction, additions, alterations, repairs and demolitions by council district, county and school district. Data is presented for the period from the beginning of the year to the end of the last quarter processed. In addition to tables, the reports present a chart of residential units constructed over the past several years, and maps of the locations of all residential new construction and of non-residential new construction valued at $50,000 or more. There is also a report summarizing activity since 1970.
Building permit data is also available in the form of building permits aggregated by census tracts and listings of individual building permits. Additional reports compare Kansas City, Mo. building permits to those of the metro area.
