Instructions for using this report This report is intended to allow the user to look up construction-related trades contractors by license type and company name. To find a specific contractor please do the following:   Click on the licensed contractors link that follows Select a license type from the drop-down list Click the submit button. View a list of licensed contractors. Important disclaimer. Please read. There are other factors which affect a contractor's eligibility to obtain permits and perform regulated tradeswork, such as supervisor eligibility; validity of insurance; status of business license; changes in company name, owner, and/or personnel; suspensions; revocations; etc. It is possible for a company not to show up on the list because, although it has submitted renewal fees due and/or taken care of other account problems, those items are still in turnaround (not yet posted) at the time the report is run. Consequently, it is possible that a company may appear on this list and not be in good standing or may not appear on this list yet be in good standing. The appearance of a contractor's name on this list does not in any way imply a City endorsement or recommendation. A contractor license does not in and of itself entitle a contractor to perform or supervise regulated, construction-related tradeswork. The contractor must employ an appropriately certified qualified supervisor in a full-time, active capacity; carry valid insurance; obtain all necessary trades permits prior to commencing work; and use only its own staff or that of another appropriately licensed contractor to perform the work. The contractor is also required to carry a business license as a general contractor, as well as a business license for any additional specialty trades (demolition, sign work, and house moving, among them), from the Finance Department, (816) 513-1135; and to register its name and ownership with the State of Missouri, (816) 889-2925.
