Greg Franzen, P.E., is the Building Official and the Division Manager of Inspections for City Planning and Development - Development Services. Mr. Franzen received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Engineering from Iowa State University in 1985, and has been with CPD-DS (formerly the Department of Codes Administration) since 1987. Prior to promotion to his current position in 1996, he served CPD-DS first in the Inspections Division as a construction code inspector and a construction code supervisor, and then in the Plans Review Division as a graduate and then professional engineer. Mr. Franzen is a registered professional engineer in the State of Missouri with emphasis in the discipline of fire protection engineering. He also holds certifications as a certified building official and a master code professional from the International Code Council. Mr. Franzen is a member of the International Code Council, the Kansas City Metro Chapter of the ICC and the National Fire Protection Association. Mr. Franzen has been appointed by the ICC Board of Directors and served on the International Building Code Fire Safety Code Development Committee for the 2003-2004 and the 2004-2005 code change cycles. He is a designated voting representative for the City of Kansas City, Mo., at all national-level code change hearings.
