Building and Fire Codes Board of Appeals
The Building and Fire Codes Board of Appeals hears appeals of orders, decisions, or determinations made by the Building Official or the Fire Department director.
Except in emergencies, any decision of the Building Official or the Fire Department director in the enforcement of the applicable code may be appealed to the board by any person aggrieved by any decision of either the building official or Fire Department director. Appeals must be made within thirty days from the date of the decision, order, or other ruling to be appealed.

The board consists of 12 members and 12 alternates and is appointed by the Mayor. Each member and alternate is qualified by experience and training to pass upon matters pertaining to building construction. Members and alternates are not employees of the city and serve without pay.
