In 1996, the Landmarks Commission developed a volume of illustrated Urban Design Guidelines to better assist property owners making renovations to designated residential properties. The Guidelines are based on the principles expressed by the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation. Understanding the needs of modern property owners living in historic dwellings, the Commission hopes that the Guidelines will assist owners in making renovations that are sympathetic to their property's historic character.
Copies of the Guidelines are available for consultation at the Landmarks Commission office or at the Kansas City Public Library. You can also purchase copies of the Guidelines for $10.00. Call (816) 513-2902 for more information.
