More information

The Kansas City Complete Count Committee, appointed by Mayor Mark Funkhouser, is working to encourage a complete count of Kansas City, Mo.’s, population for the 2010 Census. Getting a full count in urban areas where participation rates are traditionally lower is difficult. In recent years, many cities, including Kansas City, Mo., have challenged census numbers as too low. The City’s successful challenge to the population estimates made by the U.S. Census Bureau resulted in an increase of about 50,000 people to Kansas City’s official population. However, challenge opportunities will not be available after the 2010 Census is completed. That is why it is critical that every Kansas City resident be counted in the 2010 Census.
