The following is the public neighborhood hearing schedule for the six City Council districts. View the citywide hearing dates for citywide projects. The Public Improvements Advisory Committee, in cooperation with the mayor and City Council, holds these hearings across the city to hear from residents about the City's public improvement needs.
If you submit more than one request, place a priority number on all PIAC form submissions, indicating which is the most important improvement in your neighborhood or association. We are encouraging cooperation instead of competition among the neighborhoods and residents we serve in the PIAC program.
PIAC will use information gathered through the hearings to recommend projects for funding to the Council for Fiscal Year 2014-15. Project funding comes from the one-cent sales tax for public improvements.
In addition to attending the hearings, residents also can tell PIAC about needed public improvements by completing a project request form. These forms will be available at the hearings or from the Capital Improvements Program, at 816-513-2826.
These public hearings are the only way for the Public Improvements Advisory Committee members to meet the public and hear testimony regarding capital improvement projects from those directly involved. Last year, more than 800 requests for capital improvements projects were received through the PIAC process.
The deadline to submit a PIAC application for this year was Aug. 31, 2013. Any request submitted after the deadline date will be held for the next year's funding.
