Town Halls

In an effort to be an accessible Mayor, Mayor Mark Funkhouser holds regular Town Hall meetings, usually on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Since he took office on May 1, 2007, Mayor Funkhouser has held over 90 town hall meetings and hosted thousands of citizens.

At a typical town hall meeting the Mayor will speak for 10-15 minutes on issues related to Kansas City government. Then he will take questions for the balance of an hour.  Questions can range from constituent service issues to policy discussions.  The Mayor enjoys the feedback and the chance to hear directly from residents.

On this page you will find a schedule for upcoming town hall meetings, a recap of town halls from the past, and a way to setup your own town hall meeting with Mayor Mark Funkhouser.

Mayor's Town Hall Aug. 26, 2010

Mayor Mark Funkhouser attended a town hall session on Aug. 26 at Harmony Vineyard Church in the Northland. Those who attended asked questions about city sidewalks, the Port Authority of Kansas City, the potential recall of the earnings tax and other issues. The statewide election on the earnings tax, which is being financed and pushed by St. Louis billionaire Rex Sinquefield, is scheduled for Nov. 2. "It's designed to just destroy Kansas City," Mayor Funkhouser told the crowd. "I'm opposed to it and will fight with every tool I have."
