Councilman Jermaine Reed represents over 78,000 residents in the City Kansas City, Missouri’s 3rd District. The District boasts a rich cultural and athletic history including the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, American Jazz Museum and both the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals Stadiums. He is the youngest member of the City Council and was elected at the age of 26.
Councilman Reed has championed and overseen $86 million dollars in economic development projects, $4 million in Public Improvement Projects and nearly $270,000 dollars in funding to bring tourists to 3rd District museums and community events.
He has been focused on putting people back to work and sponsored legislation offering bid incentives for businesses who hire skilled, unemployed workers who are job ready.
Councilman Reed hosts a bi-weekly radio show called Conversation with the Councilman. He is a frequent host, guest speaker and commentator at events across the country.
Overcoming poverty and homelessness, Reed continues to strive to be an example of what young people can achieve with perseverance and dedication. He is a first generation college graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia and has a degree in Political Science.

. Reed also serves on the Board of Directors of the Ad-Hoc Group Against Crime, which is committed to reducing crime in Kansas City, Missouri. He’s also on the board of the American Jazz Museum, the Jazz District Redevelopment Corporation, and he’s a member of the National Forum of Black Public Administrators and several other community organizations.
Councilman Reed remains committed to energizing and restoring the 3rd District where he was born and raised. He remains committed to empowering the citizens of Kansas City, Missouri.
He is the second oldest of four boys. He enjoys reading, travel and spending time with family and friends.
