2000 employment in district by industry
The majority of 5th District residents work in the service sector at a higher rate than the city as a whole. This could be attributed to the health facilities such as Swope Parkway Health Center and Health Midwest. The 5th District also has the lowest percentage of retail workers of all the districts.
Portion of district residents who work in the 5th District
Fifteen percent of residents who also live in the 5th District work there. This district has the second lowest number of residents working in it. This can be attributed to the large area devoted to residential zoning and easy access to major areas of employment elsewhere in the city.
